Live Portrait of An Artist
Live Portrait of an Artist is an interactive self-portrait created as a proof-of-concept as part of the XR Lab at Digital Art Studios Belfast.
As a viewer approaches the portrait, their facial movements are recognized and the portrait subject copies them. The portrait is of the artist, but gives the audience some control over the composition, and the body, removing agency from the artist.
Because this was a demo done for the XR Lab, the mechanics behind the portrait were exposed, as seen in the iPad. This project was created using a Polyscan of the artists head, as well as Unreal Engine, and metahuman and LiveLink technologies.
This work was supported by the National Lottery through the Arts Council of Northern Ireland
