The postcards project is a multimedia art installation that focuses on the stories and perspectives of people who have called the United States home, and are now abroad during this current moment in history, and their messages back home.
Currently, we are gathering a list of people who may be interested in participating. If you are interested, please fill out your information below. At this time, we are only collecting email addresses. If you wish to participate anonymously, it will be possible to do so, with only the artist being aware of your participation. Keep an eye on this space for more information.
This artwork will be a collaboration between participants and the artist. Each participant will write a postcard back to the U.S. – with memories, thoughts on the current moment in history, whatever they want to say. The other side of the postcard will then be turned into a painting by the artist, inspired by the writing.
All of the postcards will come together in an interactive exhibit that also includes animations and audio.
Abra Dickson White is a creative technologist, originally from the United States, now residing in Northern Ireland. Her work explores new ways to interact with physical artworks, and explores communal immersive experiences.
If you’ve expressed interest in participating, you will receive a link to a survey to get more information about you, and whether you’d be a good fit for this project. From there, if selected, you may be given a writing prompt for a very short piece (that would fit on a postcard!) based on your experiences (this may be handwritten or online) and may be asked if you wish to participate in audio recordings/interviews. Everything will be at the participants’ discretion and is entirely optional. More information will be given at the time of the survey.
